Death occurs when a character's health reaches zero. A message in the chatbox tells them: Oh dear, you are dead! After a player dies, they will be placed in the death office if there is a wealth risk at the time of death, or in the nearest respawn center if there is no wealth risk.
Dying will keep the player's items for 23 hours when they die, these items don't always stay dead or always stay dead except in the wild. If players do not want to die prematurely, they can prepare enough Runescape Gold before entering an adventure to help them pass the level smoothly.
All minigames are either safe (eg Fishing Trawler) or dangerous (eg Pyramid Plunder). If the player dies while participating in safe minigames, the player will keep all items and respawn at the minigame-specific location. If the player dies while participating in a dangerous minigame, the player will respawn at the chosen center and a tombstone will be placed at the death site or the entrance to the minigame.
Respawning
When players die normally, they will respawn, which means they will be transported to the death office with full health and restored stats. Players will keep all items that were kept at the time of death as well as items that were not kept in the Wilds.
Players can exit Death's Office through Death's hourglass, where they can choose to spawn at a specific location. These potential spawning locations via the hourglass are Camelot, Falador, Lumbridge, Soul Wars and Prifddinas, in addition to going through the hourglass itself to Draynor village. If a player dies without risking possessions, they will respawn at the last center he or she visited. The only base spawn point that every player automatically unlocks when they create an account is at Lumbridge.
When a player dies, they will lose all items they were carrying at the time of death, but worn equipment and all items in their inventory are always dead, which is not included in the Wilds.
