Vehicular emissions in India
India is the fourth largest greenhouse gas (GHG) emitter, accounting for 7.08% of global emissions. It ranks third for poor air quality, with many North Indian cities among the most polluted globally. The transportation sector is a major contributor, being the fastest-growing source of carbon emissions in India. As policymakers push for electric vehicle (EV) adoption, a two-part series will examine vehicular emissions and relevant regulations in the country.
