However, the shades of canvas, cotton, and mesh blends are much better, and their blues look as if the shoes have only been dipped twice. Surprisingly, the sole spoils the immersion a bit, as the white finish on the midsole is flawless, without the color that the rest of the shoe is said to be drowning in.

To be fair, most of the new Air Tuned Max versions are pretty bland, as nothing compares to the matte finish of the original. Due to the ultra-modern design, the classic elements associated with retro runners don’t quite fit, so a palette of equally stimulating colors and materials needs to be used for composition. This upcoming release is one of the few that actually works, as it pairs a bright orange overlay and volt heel with a black/grey base, proving once again the importance of color blocking.
Retro Jordan 2021, While the world awaits the return of the Nike Air Max 97 in its original "Silver Bullet" look, the shoe is using its 25th anniversary as an opportunity to experiment. The latest air cushion style comes in two shades of "Coconut Milk" and "Dark Beetroot". While neither of these colors are new to the Swoosh's Air Max line, their presence in Christian Tresser's 1997 design is notable due to the darker tones used on the patent leather fenders. Near the tongue, the upper overlay shifts from a wine-like hue to an off-white cream hue, allowing the "dark beetroot" to shine while adding a touch of elegance to the women's-exclusive shoe. Underfoot, the only unit serves primarily "coconut milk," although the Cyclone branding has been updated with a muted orange hue.

Its blue hue even seeps into the white mesh on the toe and collar, while the black, subtly patterned fenders and "Volt" accents stay the same. Custom branding, such as the diamonds and "32C" markings on the tongue and insole, are much more obscure, and their significance will no doubt be revealed once Nike officially launches the shoe.
